Hjh Maimunah Mini at Westgate Mall is a compact outpost of the renowned Hjh Maimunah restaurant chain, established in Singapore since the early 1990s and located in the Food Junction at basement level 1. The original Hjh Maimunah restaurant was founded in 1992 by Madam Mahiran Abdul Rahman on Jalan Pisang, named after her late mother, Hajah Maimunah Abdul Karim, using family recipes passed down through generations that have since become a Malay heritage icon in Singapore. We got Assam pedas fish from the Hajah Maimunah stall. The ikan pari was not fresh at all! And we had bought 3 pcs takeaway! The flesh of the fish was greyish brown. It was only 10+ am when we bought the dish. Regret buying. Ended up eating plain rice with gravy only! If we were there, we would have returned the dish! Hajah Maimunah owners, you really need more QC on the fish that you buy and not pass them off as eatable.

I really enjoyed the fish set today! The fish was nicely cooked and the gravy was fantastic. I was quite pleased that they gave me extra gravy for the rice, but I wasn’t given any okra from the fish. It would be nice if they could give one okra 😆 The service was quick as I was early and the queue was not long. Halfway through my food the crowd started coming in and the queue built up quickly. I was tempted to get the kuih kuih but too full.

Chanced upon this when we came into the food junction looking for a table to chill after a few hours of standing, and decided to share a plate at 3pm 🕒 The queue was pretty constant even during off peak hours, as can be seen in the photos, and rightly so given that the food was great! Having tried their dishes from their main outlet, we were excited to see if this matches up and it did 👍🏻 🐠 the fish set costs $8.50, which is definitely pricey for a food court, but was a generous serving and was very fresh too - definitely something we will always opt for in future. 🌶️ chilli was good, would have taken more if we knew it was this good Begedil and eggs were average, have tried better ones out there. Definitely a good addition to the food junction, looking forward to having this again!
