There's a very long queue during peak hours, but it moves fast. Pork floss bread is the best, although prices have been creeping up. The other breads are only so-so.

My mum bought a loaf of bread from BreadTalk Westgate on Nov 29, without realizing it was just one day from its expiry date (Nov 30). We expected it to have a shelf life of at least three days. It seems they really have very poor quality control. Moreover, it was not a clearance item. Do take note when purchasing.

My first time buying bread later in the evening, and there was some bread and cakes on discount. There was no signage in the shop, and only one lady staff was shouting something like '3 for $5' for a basket of buns and cakes. There was also a discount for their Japanese cheesecake, which I decided to buy. When I went to the cashier to make payment, the staff Alex, a young man, looked totally disinterested to serve me, even though there was no one ahead or behind me. As there was a similar basket of steamed buns and cakes at the cashier, I decided to buy three of them. I was then told that because I chose the strawberry steamed bun, it would cost $4.90. I assumed it was $4.90 each and asked him what type of buns/cakes qualified for '$5 for three'. He just pointed to another plain steamed bun, which I took. Shouldn't there be signage to make it clear to customers? After payment, Alex, without asking me whether I wanted the receipt, quickly tore away the receipt. Is that the norm? Why print a paper receipt only to tear it away? The only thing he mentioned to me was whether I wanted a plastic bag. I was not informed if this plastic bag was free or if it needed to be paid for. Again, a sign would suffice. For example, Four Leaves has signage stating that only the first plastic bag is free. And when I asked him for a receipt, he told me I needed to wait as he had already thrown away the receipt and was now ringing up the till for the next customer. I needed to wait for my receipt even though it was already printed. This is a waste of paper and time! What lousy service at this shop! BreadTalk is one of our local companies, which is frequented by many, yet their service staff lacks basic customer service. Yes, it could have been a very popular joint as its location is at Westgate next to the JE MRT, but I wonder why there is no signage for discounted bread and cakes throughout the shop? Why do the staff assume that customers do not want a receipt? And why is the cashier Alex totally not interested in serving a customer waiting to make payment? I have seen good and consistent service at local bakeries like Four Leaves and Swee Heng, where there are clear signs indicating if the bread or cakes are on discount after a certain time. Come on, BreadTalk, please train your service staff better.

Love their original egg tarts from this joint, but the atmosphere feels like pasar malam all due to one of their staff members repeatedly exclaiming in Mandarin, "multi-layer egg tart, buy 2 free 1". Let the product sell itself, for Christ's sake!
PS: I did not purchase the egg tarts because of her announcement. Also, may I suggest you change your packaging for your crustless loaf bread. It's too snug, and there are droplets of water visible inside the package with the bread. It's heaven for mold!

It's convenient because it's right at the MRT exit. I get my daily bread fix here.
