I don't like to give low ratings, but I'm really sorry, the shredded fried chicken was not good. As you can see in the picture, the chicken came extremely dry. It was hard to chew, with no juice left. It looked like it had been fried many, many times, perhaps leftover chicken from previous days, fried again. It was not enjoyable to eat. Plus, I've had a sore throat after eating the chicken. It's been a few days and it's still bothering me. If you can't make a profit from selling it, then you can increase the price a bit. Oh my goodness.
The sambal was awesome. My boyfriend said the grilled chicken was perfect. It was juicy and tasty. I recommend ordering the grilled one instead of the fried one. I loved the 'akak' with short hair; she served us so kindly.

Good, comforting food served with fiery sambal. If you don't fancy the sambal that comes with the dish, there's a condiment station where other sambals are served - sambal belacan, sambal ijo, sambal kicap. There's also treacly soy sauce that can be mixed with rice to cut the heat of the sambal. I personally love the shredded duck, but it can be hit or miss on some days. The accompanying tempe, tau kwa, cucumber, tomato, and blanched kangkong are barely enough - I get that some patrons may not finish these sides, and they would end up being wasted if a larger portion were served.

I ordered the signature Bebek Goreng (Original Crispy Fried Duck) and some additional crackers. The duck was tender and the skin was crunchy, as expected. The chili was good and spicy! Sweet soy sauce is available for unlimited self-service. One issue I had was the relatively small amount of rice; I think more rice would have elevated the experience. The crackers were generously presented (which ended up helping with my hunger for more rice) and tasted awesome too!

Regrettably, the fried chicken in the Ayam Penyet was inedible, though the grilled chicken set was okay. There was a good selection of chili with a real spice kick, but unfortunately, I will not be back.

Here's the edited review:
I don't usually go for Indonesian food, but the food here tasted really similar to those I've tried in Batam.
The Ayam penyet was good, but the meat was slightly on the drier side.
The beef bakso soup was really nice. It's a very decent dinner spot if you're craving Indonesian cuisine.
