328 Katong Laksa at Westgate brings Singapore's most internationally renowned laksa experience to Jurong East, representing over 27 years of culinary excellence that began with founder Nancy Koh's six-month dedication to perfecting her signature recipe. This iconic laksa destination gained global recognition following Gordon Ramsay's famous cooking challenge defeat and subsequent international acclaim, including notable recognition from Yan Can Cook in 2001. The restaurant has successfully expanded from its original Katong location to four outlets across Singapore, including United Square, Queensway Shopping Centre, and Westgate, making their legendary laksa accessible to a broader audience while maintaining strict quality standards.
The signature Katong laksa distinguishes itself through its rich, orangey coconut broth heavily flavored with hae bee (dried shrimp) and swirled with aromatic chilli and prawn oil, creating a complex flavor profile that epitomizes authentic Peranakan cuisine. The dish features precisely cut rice noodles that are firm yet slightly chewy, designed specifically to be eaten with just a spoon rather than chopsticks, making it a unique cultural dining experience. Premium toppings include fresh shrimp, cockles, fishcake, tau kwa (tofu), and tau geh (bean sprouts) for freshness, all swimming in the lemak coconutty gravy that has made this laksa legendary among locals and international food enthusiasts.
328 Katong Laksa's influence extends beyond restaurant dining, with recent innovations including a collaboration with Nissin to create instant bowl noodles available at 7-Eleven stores, allowing fans to enjoy the famous flavors at home. The brand's commercial success, evidenced by their four outlets and franchising opportunities, demonstrates their ability to scale operations while preserving the authentic taste and preparation methods that made them famous. The Westgate location continues this legacy of excellence, serving as a convenient destination for both laksa newcomers and longtime devotees to experience Singapore's most celebrated noodle dish in its authentic, spoon-only presentation style.
Went down to 216 East Coast Rd for Laksa lunch. Actually wanted to order the laksa with prawns and cockles. The menu picture showed the prawn with shell , I hate peeling prawn shell so I order the shredded chicken. This rating is for the shredded chicken laksa .
The gravy was good but a bit spicy even without chilli. The shredded chicken was tough and tasteless. I feel that the shredded chicken was too much in quantity because I was biting on chicken meat more than the noodles.

I went down on Sunday, around 5pm for early dinner. Stall was quite empty.
Ordered a medium-sized laksa SGD$8 and topped up SGD$4 for 2 serving of cockles (my fav😅) and added an onsen egg. The drink cost SGD$2.50.
After payment, I then realised they actually have 4 combo meals available. Seems like quite worth it. Do check them out. The combo meals poster is near the drinks fridge. Easy to miss out.
I enjoyed the laksa. Personally, it tasted pretty good for me. I recommend that you don't put too much chilli as it might make the laksa too salty. Without adding chilli, it tastes good as well, with a bit of chilli it kind of enhances it further. And not forgetting the chopped laksa leaves. 😋
I have this eating habit of saving the best for the last. Hence, there is a photograph showing the amount of prawns and cockles in my bowl of laksa. There were a total of 3 prawns, cut in halves. The cockles were mostly quite big, plump, and juicy.

Gave 4 stars. Had the combo C. If u need to settle your craving of Laksa, this works. But not as good as original and should have been warmer. Need to add chilli for the oomph. Else lack the punch. Can understand as this has to cater for everyone. Overall still positive. I think they should get a better otah - like those from Muar. Invest a bit more as this is costly.

Had family dinner at 328 Katong Laksa @ Westgate Basement. You can scoop the cut beehoon with gravy with spoon. The gravy was thick, rich, flavourful & already spicy. Small bowl was quite filling. The egg was very tasty, it's like onsen egg 😋😋
Tried the chicken shredded & normal laksa both were 😋
Definitely will come back again.

The laksa was quite nice and a little spicy. However they didn't cut small enough to scoop the laksa. Nonetheless it was a good lunch
