PlayMade Westgate

I bought the Dong Ding Oolong tea with pink cactus pearls. The tea tasted good, but most of the pearls were uncooked. There were a few that were soft and chewy, but the rest were hard and powdery when I bit into them. I waited about 10 minutes for my order, even though there were only two people in front of me who ordered one drink each.

I always order my Taiwan Milk Tea with burnt caramel pearls from Playmade. I'm not sure why, but in recent years, these pearls have been consistently unavailable. It's as if out of 20 visits, they only have the pearls once. The same issue applies to their AMK Hub outlet; I've asked the staff about the availability, but they weren't sure themselves. Playmade could perhaps improve on this, as I'm a fan of this drink and pearls combo. It's not just the burnt caramel pearls; I've consistently seen several other flavored pearls listed as unavailable for extended periods. This could deter potential customers who purchase their drinks specifically for the flavored pearls. Apart from the drinks, I have had some bad experiences with the customer service from this outlet. While my experiences are generally alright, I've encountered staff members with bad attitudes when taking orders and handing out drinks. On a couple of occasions, a staff member—a Chinese male of average height whose name I didn't catch—was rude and looked unhappy. These incidents occurred on separate occasions, but they typically involved Chinese male staff members. I recall one specific instance clearly: it was on a weekday afternoon, during off-peak hours, with two male staff members on duty. After placing my order at the kiosk, I went to the collection point to wait. They saw me but chose to take their own sweet time preparing my order, despite there being barely any other customers apart from myself. When my ticket number was finally called and I went to collect it, I was greeted by a male staff member who looked like he didn't want to be there, as if he was doing the job for free.

Bought 2 cups of osmanthus oolong milk tea with chrysanthemum pearl. Tried one, and it was so diluted despite 100% sugar and no ice! Super disappointing. Has Playmade already lost its standard and, like other bubble tea brands, started adding water to their milk tea? Will not buy again.

One of my favourite bbt chains now. 🏆 We only knew they had special pearls after watching The Daily Ketchup podcast. We thought it was rather interesting, so we tried. The honey green tea with grape pearls was amazing. The tea was fragrant, the honey wasn't overwhelming, and the taste of the grapes came in last with each sip – amazing layers of flavours.🤤 We will definitely return in the future whenever we are craving a bbt with a little fun. 💯

Overall, a positive experience — one of the better boba options in the market. However, the good boba flavour always sold out, which is quite a turn-off (minus stars). Located at Level 1 of Westgate Mall.
